The Wit of Jane Austen

Dates: March 9th 2020 (one day event)
Address: Ditsong Military History Museum Auditorium, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold

Rohan Quince will delight us with his lecture on Jane Austen’s wit.  How money, marriage, good health, hypocrisy, vanity and selfishness are all cleverly satirised by the Regency’s most famous soapie writer. Rohan grew up in Johannesburg and was educated at Bryanston Primary and King Edward VII Schools.  He has spent the last forty-odd years teaching at high schools and universities in South Africa and the United States.  He is the author of Shakespeare in South Africa: Stage Productions during the Apartheid Era.  He now spends his time promoting the reading and performance of Shakespeare through the South African Council for English Education and the National Children’s Theatre.
