Shosholoza is the name of a popular traditional African song sung by the hard working men who laid the railway lines. It means to push forward, endeavour or strive and it invokes a sense of pride. Today the song is sung to rally our sportsmen and women on the field.
Imeyili is an old colloquial term used to describe a long distance train. By replacing Rail with Meyl a warm sense of history is restored in the name Shosholoza Meyl.
